By gathering your friends around a canvas, a crafting project, or some pottery – from the novice painter to the expert – you and your friends will enjoy creating, painting, laughing, eating, and relaxing together in this personal and informal setting. Here’s a bit of the story about how The Painting Broad came be!
In 2015, I partnered with my friend, Jody, to offer some painting classes at a local dance/theater studio. Before we knew it, people were asking for private parties for birthdays and even just for fun with their friends. We never intended to start a business, but we got some business cards printed up and we were off to the races! We really enjoyed teaching in this group style. It’s really informal, fun, and lends to lots of conversation. After a few months we rented a TINY studio and started holding classes several times a week. We were in that studio about a year before we decided we needed more room and more visibility downtown. The Hale Building at 1 N. Front Street was available for rent and we decided to take a look inside even though it was far bigger than we were looking for. It was 3,000 square feet on the first floor and GORGEOUS. Even though we were terrified, we made a deal with the landlord and jumped into this business full time! Along with our husbands, we put in lots of man hours to get it ship-shape. We couldn’t have done it without them. We opened the newly painted and decorated studio on September 1, 2016. Now people knew who we were, where we were and what we did. Business was great and we had a lot of fun meeting so many new people. At the end of August 2017, Jody left the business so she could spend more time with her family. Thankfully, she is still around twice a month to lead our Art Zone Kids classes. Two Painting Broads changed to The Painting Broad, LLC and it continues to provide laughter, painting, crafting, and general merriment to all who stop by.
